Applied Installs the first Quick Lock No-Dig pipe repair in UAE

Applied Pipeline Services installed the first Quick-Lock mechanical point repair in the United Arab Emirates, bringing a proven no-dig technology for localised pipe defects to the Gulf. Since that first installation, Quick-Lock has become a standard tool in our rehabilitation programme for sewer, storm and process lines.

What Quick-Lock is

Quick-Lock is a mechanical sleeve made of 316 stainless steel with an EPDM rubber seal. It is positioned inside the pipe at the exact location of a defect, using a CCTV crawler and a packer, and then expanded until it locks permanently against the pipe wall. The result is a watertight, structural repair of the damaged section, with no resin, no curing time and no excavation.

When a point repair is the right answer

Not every pipeline needs full-length lining. A CCTV survey often shows a line in good condition except for one or two localised problems: a cracked joint, a root intrusion point, a corroded section, an offset joint or a leaking lateral connection. Lining the entire run to fix a single metre is poor engineering and poor value. Quick-Lock repairs exactly the defect, and multiple sleeves can be installed in series to cover longer sections.

Advantages over resin patches

  • Immediate return to service. There is no cure time; the line can flow as soon as the sleeve is set.
  • Independent of pipe material. Works in concrete, clay, GRP, PVC, HDPE and steel pipes from DN150 to DN800.
  • Works in wet conditions. Infiltrating groundwater does not affect the seal.
  • Structural. The stainless sleeve bridges missing pipe wall and restores load capacity.
  • Design life of 50 years with no degradation from hydrogen sulphide or temperature.

How we install it

After the CCTV survey identifies and measures the defect, the pipe is cleaned and the sleeve is mounted on a packer. The crawler positions the assembly, the packer is inflated to expand the sleeve, the locking mechanism engages, and a final camera pass confirms the seal. A typical installation takes under an hour from manhole to manhole.

Part of a complete toolbox

Quick-Lock sits alongside CIPP lining, CIPP patch liners, epoxy coating and spiral wound in our trenchless programme. The CCTV survey tells us which tool fits which defect, which is why every Applied project begins with a camera and a condition report. If a localised defect is causing leaks or infiltration on your network, ask us about a point repair before committing to a full line replacement.
