Applied Pipeline Services in Riyadh - Saudi Arabia

Applied Pipeline Services was invited by one of the largest development projects in Riyadh to rehabilitate underground pipelines using UV-cured CIPP lining, the first time the technology had been deployed in Saudi Arabia. The project established our Riyadh operation, delivered through our Saudi partner Rawid AlTashkeel, and set the template for the trenchless programmes we now run across the Kingdom.

The challenge

The site's drainage network had been damaged during construction, with cracked joints, deformed sections and infiltration beneath newly completed roads and landscaping. Conventional replacement would have meant reopening finished areas on a programme that had no room for it. The owner wanted a solution that restored the network structurally, verifiably and without excavation.

Why UV CIPP

UV-cured liners use a glass-fibre reinforced resin tube that is winched into the host pipe, inflated and cured by a train of UV lamps pulled through at a controlled speed. Compared with hot-water or steam curing, UV lining offers:

  • Higher strength and thinner walls, so hydraulic capacity is preserved.
  • Faster curing, typically one metre per minute, with the full run completed and inspected in one shift.
  • No water or steam, which matters on a desert site with limited supply.
  • Continuous, logged cure data for every metre, which becomes the quality record.

What we delivered

CCTV survey and defect coding of the network; robotic cleaning and cutting of intrusions; UV CIPP lining of the affected runs; robotic reopening of lateral connections from inside the new liner; and a post-installation CCTV survey confirming a jointless, structural pipe with a 50-year design life. The roads and landscaping above were never touched.

What it started

That first UV CIPP installation grew into a permanent Saudi presence. Our Riyadh crews have since delivered trenchless inspection and rehabilitation for ARAMCO, the National Water Company, Riyadh Metro, King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries, King Salman Park, NAFFCO, SEPCO, ENOVA and RED SEA, with the same equipment, standards and 10-year warranty we use in the UAE. If your project in the Kingdom has a pipeline problem under a finished surface, we have very likely solved the same one before.
